@spncrhkm I had forgotten about these but I put it in the same category as chromebooks .. netbooks lost based on the OS, same argument here. Note Steam Deck is Linux based and Android based devices are kinda winning for emulation as well

Plus, the “politics as ‘rasslin culture war theater” formula that Trump stumbled through will be perfected by smarter politicians. None of this is good. Especially because it works — they get the votes with this strategy.

In many ways this switch-like form factor is a better alternative to the "gaming laptop" IMO. I neglected to bring a USB-C to HDMI adapter for big TV use though.

@mark_mcgookin @spolsky I've covered it a billion times in every talk I've ever given but the TL;DR is it takes incredible discipline to get it right. Stack is a scalpel. In the hands of a trained, skilled userbase it's great. In anyone else's hands it is super dangerous.

single cable HDMI audio has come a LONG way. Basically perfect multi-channel audio in Windows this way without doing much at all. Sayonara s/pdif and optical!

interestingly, this (apparently?) has WAY more efficient solar panels than the other inexpensive Kikkerland solar spinners. This one works in even modest light whereas the Kikkerland ones only work in full-on direct bright sunlight. Why is that?
