@mirza oh yes I adore the Phantom Canyon, loved the Hades Canyon, also the Skull Canyon.. and Ghost Canyon is just (chef's kiss).. overpriced, but *nothing* like these boxes in this form factor. They are BMWs and worth it.

@zitterbewegung @epvh yeah, Apple has been remarkably cautious. They've had silicon *significantly* faster than the best Intel and AMD stuff for at least 2 generations now, and arguably 3 (A12, A13, A14). The trend was pretty clear by A9.

@mrcbergamin @mjbiren yeah Haswell ("4th gen" by the current nomenclature) was the gen where they got serious about reducing power consumption. We're still wating for the next real architecture change after Skylake ("6th gen"). And we're on 11th gen now! 🤦‍♂️

@chx for the system in question, quad wouldn't work -- Ghost Canyon. Not enough lanes. Also _might_ not have enough cores (8c/16t), but I can't tell yet, the data is not there. This is my first bifurcation experiment so I thought I'd start small.
