@codinghorror
@mwpastore @tqbf why not teach source control? I'm just saying

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror
@tqbf as a working programmer in my experience you will be lucky to write one "algorithm" per year. You know what they should teach? How to evaluate which of these 12 rando libraries / plugins will solve your problem best.

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror
@tqbf I feel like this stuff is so irrelevant to modern programming, where your real problems are users intentionally (or unintentionally) stomping on each other, more so than "I didn't write the correct magic algorithm"

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror
And not just technical kinds of evil https://t.co/LK6UNXgcE5 https://t.co/MSDmIgGAn0

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror
@shog9 @bethanymarz There are no dumb questions, but there are definitely lazy ones

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror
@billkarwin I'm super not getting how this is any better at all than what I proposed

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror
I wasn't sure about this year, but that particular track is kinda genius, Toto / Buckcherry / Khia 🤯

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror
this year is kinda raunchy -- "My Neck, My Buck" 🤣

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror
@JohnONolan isn't this a typical microfiber cloth?

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror
@billkarwin yes but how do you know who has "the most restrictive schedule" without.. asking everyone to list blackout dates?

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror
@realkpfleming @brandon it's possible we can do this as a @discourse plugin (reply with your blackout dates, one reply per attendee), but I was trying to avoid that. Looks like I can't

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror
@brandon yeah I can't find anything decent either

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror
@RanaeDietzel this tool .. not a fan. I want to mark blackout days, not the opposite

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror
Hmm no, trying it out.. doodle doesn't seem right. You have to tell it "possible event dates" in advance? I want a group of 40 people to mark blackout days (full days) for a full year and then the tool determines a few best options for a meeting of {x} days based on that

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror
@Carnage4Life where did this come from? The purple was inevitable I guess

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror
@alexlmiller doodle is getting recommended overwhelmingly though, so I think I might look into that

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror
@deadprogrammer ... all of it 😑

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror
@deadprogrammer no seriously

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror
@deadprogrammer what is this for? What is its purpose?

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror
@shog9 this is a weird finding; compare iOS emojis to Windows 10 emoji. I think the Win10 ones are wayyy easier to visually parse https://t.co/kWYRY9BxBQ

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror
@twostraws I clear all blocks after 4 years as a general policy

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror
@splattne how are those bitcoins working out

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror
@anandshimpi A13X laptops here we come!

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror
@betsyphd @SwiftOnSecurity I GOT MY EEYYYYEEE ON YOU DEXTAH

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror
@SwiftOnSecurity I think this is the single character @betsyphd and I most hated as being the most incredibly one note and one dimensional character represented in any TV show, ever

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror
@Carnage4Life yeah but I'm like that ghost pepper super sour candy

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror
Ostriches are basically dinosaurs

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror
@tobermatt The fun begins at dawn!

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror
@haacked Protip: everyone stare at the timer icon so your eyes are all looking the same direction!

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror
@kevinmontrose you can also change that in the reading UI selection thing, the aA font selector menu where you can also switch column width, etc etc

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror
@TheMessanjah it's a family trip, but I appreciate it!

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror
@waxpancake I thought it was rather solid. The meta angle sold it for me. They're writing a game with choices, and we're playing. It had two "real" endings from my perspective.

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror
@tobermatt more carcinogens = more tastiness

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror
@chetfaliszek @gofundme they do but I don't think they can legally give it to the government. My guess is this'll go into the 2020 re-elect Trump fund or his legal defense, whichever pans out first

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror
@chetfaliszek @gofundme I just checked the wall fund thing and it's at $60.65 average donation, which means it still needs about 16 million more funders to reach that 1 billion dollar goal.

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror
my mini-pc colocation host has been https://t.co/ELZEPfrTRV in Boston and I can thoroughly recommend them

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror
@mathowie always have baby wipes. That's like the only good thing you learn from having a baby Matt

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror
@kevinmontrose @rossipedia Hell I even use it in the twitter app. It works.

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror
@anildash @bungarsargon @IBJIYONGI PewDiePie super sucks, I am hoping a decade from now he can be erased from our collective consciousness

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror
@m4rr @_cingraham I like this plan, add more chaos to chaos

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror
@tobermatt I disagree, I think the filtered ones have mostly been valid

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror
@deancommasteven This was the most honest ending based on the choices I had without seriously restarting. It's clever that some endings you can't get without having other endings first, which is part of the joke?

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror
@YoungYouth14 there is a whole set of weekly podcasts about it from 2008-2011

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror
@kevinmontrose I do it literally every day so.. yeah

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror
@deancommasteven I went back and did some more, I wasn't sure if it would repeat forever, so I stopped updating Twitter. I didn't get the 5 star bandernatch review in this playthrough, though.

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror
@wcvworg you need a stack structure

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror
In case you are curious why this is so interesting to me, note what my twitter profile background image is

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror
It's the one path I could not get last night. "I can finally work with real purpose"

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror
@alanstorm @textfiles this was already thoroughly debunked. "intern" is all I needed to read originally https://t.co/ZOzLsYdLTk

Jeff Atwood
@codinghorror
@wholeearthweb isn't this whatsapp in a nutshell? It's.. not good https://t.co/arTJz6Mogd
