I think that's the key misunderstanding on Surface. It is not a tablet killer; wasn't meant to be. It is, however, a laptop killer.

Surface RT is flawed like any v1 product. But the more I use it, the more I think this touch + keyboard form factor is the future of laptops

I give the Surface RT the same recommendation people gave the iPad 1: it's early times, yes, but the concept is sound and it works.

the only valid ding on Surface RT is the low-res display. Keyboard, metro, performance, (limited) apps: it all works.

Surface RT is very impressive. It is the car that flies and floats. Whether it *should* do those things is for you to decide.

it's telling that the tiny Surface cover touchpad works better than the one on most PC laptops.
